Brad Munn: Enertia Software is a fully integrated enterprise grade solution. With over 35 years in the upstream oil and gas industry, Enertia delivers best-in-class development services to exploration and production operators of all sizes. From small to mid-cap and super independents, Enertia solutions are uniquely structured to meet each client’s physical, technical and operational needs through onsite and/or SaaS.

EE: With all the available features, would you say that your system could be an all-in-one solution for oil and gas companies?

BM: Absolutely. Enertia is the only option offering a fully integrated, single database ERP solution exclusively for the upstream oil and gas industry. Enertia uses the Microsoft development stack for its software and applications. Our familiarity with the data structures and nuances of other legacy systems provides a clear technology advantage for our customers, offering infrastructure frameworks that provide auxiliary functionality needed to compete in today’s business landscape.

EE: How do you conduct data migrations from legacy systems to yours? How much downtime if any does it usually take to do a migration?

BM: Our implementation process is centered on our ability to engage with our customers and outline the software functionality required, the business process designs, conversion requirements, training needs and on-going support model. With over 35 years of experience in data migration and conversion, we’ve figured out a thing or two, including how to minimize any client downtime. Our proven history of successful implementations and long-term client relationships are a solid foundation for developing enduring and mutually beneficial partnerships.

EE: Are you using cloud-based storage or is that up to the company? Do you offer on-premise and hybrid solutions?

BM: Cloud, hosted, SaaS… all options [are] available through Enertia. Fully integrated platform solutions through Enertia offer upstream energy companies the needed flexible implementation solutions that support business expansion, agility and operational efficiency in all environments. Under our SaaS infrastructure framework, Enertia provides the network, hardware, IT services, and leading-edge accessibility
to maintain your integrated data.

EE: What do you offer as part of your full-service migration, consulting, etc.? Can you describe your full service a bit more in depth?

BM: Enertia’s SaaS offering ensures time savings and resource expertise available from industry leading professionals. Our proven history of successful implementations and long-term client relationships are a solid foundation for developing enduring and mutually beneficial partnerships with our customers. Enertia’s services methodology is centered on the ability to engage with our customers and outline the software functionality required, the business process designs, conversion requirements, training needs and on-going support model.

EE: What kind of data backup services do you use before performing a migration?

BM: At Enertia, [an] extensive data validation process is applied multiple times throughout the implementation phase, allowing our implementation experts and your business users to cross-validate and become familiar with the data and software.

EE: Could you elaborate a bit more on your MS tech stack? Or maybe elaborate on the land component?

BM: Enertia’s land contracts mapping applications provide comprehensive lease plus contract data management for user-defined terms and provisions in a sleek and easy to use web interface. Land, contract and division order data no longer needs to be managed from the original files or separate applications and “interfaced” to your operations and accounting systems. Lease and contract data is customizable including data structure, decode data and data requirements.

Regarding the lease versus tract debate: Enertia offers the ability to utilize both. Customers can structure their data from a lease exploration perspective to enter, maintain and import ownership information including contacts, as well as from acquisition information to import or enter leases that have already been executed. Customers can utilize both perspectives in one design configuration.

EE: We have seen a lot of adoption [of technology] in the past five years by a conservative industry. Where do you see the industry in terms of technology usage in the next five to 10 years?

BM: There is an increasing desire for SaaS platforms that allow software users the ability to view and analyze data via dashboards and manipulate data with highly functional web-based user interfaces. I think you will continue to see development toward this functionality and beyond. Enertia has taken great strides to ensure we’re not just providing another SaaS offering but that our fully integrated solution carries through, ensuring the best possible experience for our customers. It goes without saying that technology will always evolve. Companies need to have the ability to adapt, pivot and remain flexible, while maintaining a high level of customer support for their current product in the ever-changing software space.
